Hilltop, the home of Beatrix Potter and Far Sawrey, from where you can take the passenger/car ferry to the tourist hotspots of Bowness and Windermere, are both nearby. Also within easy reach are Grasmere, the home of Wordsworth, Coniston and the Langdales, offering more challenging walks and outdoor activities.
