A romantic country retreat in the heart of Lorna Doone country in Devon
If you dream of a romantic, tranquil retreat in the heart of Exmoor, an area better known for the dramatic tales of the Doone family, Keepers Cottage is absolutely perfect. Detached and set a short distance from the owner's own home on an eighteen-acre estate, it has been sympathetically and stylishly converted from a former barn. The lovely sitting / dining room with wood burning stove for cosy cooler evenings features original beams . French doors lead out onto the private patio terrace and lawn overlooking the river, a wonderful spot to relax or enjoy al fresco meals. Evoking the character of the barn, a separate cottage style kitchen features beech work surfaces complemented by a Belfast sink. On the first floor an attractive spacious bedroom with stylish ensuite bathroom enjoys fabulous views over the river and surrounding countryside. You are able to walk, pony trek( two and a half miles away) or fish on the half mile stretch of licensed river right on your doorstep. Brendon village just under a mile away has a good village inn and nearby Oare has tearooms and a gift shop. The popular twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth on the coastal edge of Exmoor are just a short four mile drive away and offer a great selection of craft shops, galleries and restaurants.
Accommodation: Ground floor: Living/dining room with TV with freesat, DVD, video, stereo and wood burning stove. Kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Use of tumble dryer on site. Cloakroom WC. First floor: Bedroom 1 with Super King, TV and ensuite bathroom with bath and fitted shower over bath. WC and basin.
Facilities and Services: Linen and towels. Under floor heating. Complimentary logs provided. 2 pets welcome. Garden furniture. Parking. Short breaks available. Arr/Dep for weekly bookings is Friday.
