Welcome to Mortimer's Barn a converted 15th Century thatched threshing barn situated in the rolling rural beauty of Preston St Mary, just outside Lavenham. This 4 star accommodation is single ground floor level and adjacent to the owners' main barn. Preston St Mary is a quiet village just outside Lavenham, England's finest medieval village and food capital of Suffolk. Lavenham is a wonderful place to visit with interesting shops and galleries and great restaurants and pubs serving excellent food. An ideal place to stay for a break to explore Suffolk's countryside and coast. Welcome to Mortimer's Barn a converted 15th Century, thatched threshing barn set in the rolling rural beauty of Preston St Mary. This 4 star accommodation is on ground floor level and lies adjacent to the owners' main barn. The decor is an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture. Shop: 2 miles. Pub: 500 metres Ground Floor: Sitting Room/Dining Area with large corner sofa unit, flat screen TV, DVD player (DVD library available) CD/radio/tape. Teak and steel table and 4 chairs, coffee table etc. Kitchen is well equipped with electric steel cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave. Bathroom with bath, separate shower, washbasin and w.c. Garden: Guests are welcome to use the garden designer owner's garden, which includes several sitting out areas to enjoy the peace and beauty. There is a recently resurfaced hard surface tennis court which has floodlights for nighttimes use - please bring your own racquets and tennis shoes. There is a large pond filled with ornamental carp, a fountain and ducks and moorhens that make this their home too. Many other species of bird can also be seen from here: white doves that live in an ornamental dovecote, swift, swallow, house martin, pied wagtail, woodpeckers, owls, heron etc. There is a book for identification in the property. A recently constructed potager or ornamental vegetable garden makes another peaceful place to sit and the chickens that live here provide the eggs in the welcome pack.
